Writing Prompt: Envelope Pushers
When was the last time you took a risk (big or small), and pushed your own boundaries — socially, professionally, or otherwise? Were you satisfied with the outcome?
Living on this crazy planet is a risk. We are forced to contend with so much; it’s dizzying.
On a micro level, however, the greatest risk I’ve ever taken was leaving my day job and becoming a full-time entrepreneur. It has been a challenge economically. Finding the most effective way to get new clients is a struggle. Word of mouth has been the number one method I’ve found to be useful, but it’s not enough to provide me with a comfortable living…yet. I’m hopeful, however, that I will find a way to build my business so that going back to a day job won’t be necessary. At the moment, it’s something I am forced to consider. Being a writer is like being an actress waiting tables, hoping she’ll break into the business and never have the need to wait tables again.
