Writing Prompt: Karma Chameleon
This just in: let’s pretend that science has proven that karma is a thing. Your words and actions will influence what happens to you in the future. How (if at all) will you change your ways?
See, here’s the rub, karma—to a degree—is already proven. Maybe not in the sense of an individual afterlife, but in the general sense of now.
Karma is sort of a spiritualized word used to describe cause and effect. We live and experience karma every hour, minute and second of every day.
Anyone who has ever lived and now living knows and understands the reality of karma (cause and effect). Everything we are currently living is in place due to a cause, something that happened before us, an idea, an action, a belief. We are living the effects of myriad actions by others from the past.
The only aspect of karma that can be argued is whether we return after death incarnated in a new body to personally experience the ripple effects of what happened in our past incarnations.
Leaving out the notion of reincarnation, karma is our existence…now. And it lives and breathes around us, even when we are unaware of it.
