salt

It has been a long journey, but I’ve been staying the course. I’ve thrown out all containers and boxes of salt in my house. I’ve been quasi salt free for about 6 months now. The only salt in my diet is what comes in certain foods.  Little by little I’ve been getting rid of seasonings that contains salt.

No, I do not have high blood pressure. I actually have normal to low blood pressure. But the salt, I’ve realized, is an irritant. And it is high time I let it go. It serves no nutritional value and deadens my taste buds.

Since I’ve been virtually salt free, I’ve noticed some amazing things. All fruits and vegetables have more than enough salt in them. The flavor of things I thought were bland are now filled with amazing flavor. Who knew?

I can now eat brussel sprouts, whereas before they were the nastiest things I’d ever encountered. I’ve discovered, through renewed taste buds, that they are actually sweet. Wow. Who would have imagined they’d be sweet.

This has been an interesting adventure. It is incredible to discover how delicious raw foods now taste. It feels like I’m in a whole new world with new fruits and vegetables at my disposal. But it is all the same fair. I am what has changed.
