a way of seeing

So much has changed over the centuries, yet much has remained the same. I take stock of history, juxtapose it with the present, and imagine how each will affect the future. I wonder where we are going, how we will get there, and what we will discover when we arrive. In all this, the ‘why’ stands out. Why do we do all these things?

What is it that drives us to investigate the many curiosities of life? What do we believe we are seeing that lends itself to our ever growing need to know more? Is it possible that it is our lack of understanding that leads us to see something that may not serve as knowledge of our existence and purpose?

Whatever the why, the world is moving at a maddening pace. I can’t help but think we need to slow down and allow life to speak to us. Turn off anything that can be turned off, light a candle, and just listen. Listen deeply and meaningfully.

Today I will take a moment to quietly meditate on the past, present and future. Be still with me.

awake

It’s 1:30am.  I should be sleeping.

I was thinking about being here…in this moment…alive.  I am now awake beyond just opened eyes. What else awakes with me?

I wonder if somewhere out in the far reaches of space, in another galaxy or another universe, if there is someone out there and in their way of communicating and being, thinking the same thing…about their moment and being alive and awake. Are they wondering if someone out in the far reaches of space, in another galaxy or another universe, is thinking the same thing they are?

Are we deeply considering the possibility of each other, in the same moment? This moment?

IMG_9319Are we both wondering if the other feels in the way we feel, dreams in the way we dream, creates in the way we create, loves in the way we love? Are we wondering if the other has intelligence? What does intelligence look like for for this other?  How would we communicate if we encountered each other?

Does that someone out there imagine? Does it imagine if we, humans, imagine? Or does it oddly think like some that it is all there is in its galaxy, in this universe amongst many universes? What does it feel when alone and no one is watching? And does it wonder if we feel when alone?

I should be sleeping.

There is too much to wonder about in this moment. In the end, what does it mean to be alive?

I really should be sleeping…

eerie feeling

i get this eerie feeling that something is on the horizon. something we’ve never seen or felt before. it will be a thing that completely rocks our world and raises our awareness of what can happen, and what can exist.

i know i’m being vague, but i cannot give what i don’t have to give. i only know the feeling. it is coming and coming fast. my only hope is that we are all prepared for it…

poem: deeper

lookingdown

It is somewhere we’ve never been before
That vision many claim can never be ours

Yet, somehow we know it’s there, waiting for us to find it

It is somewhere within us, deeper than the ocean we hope to know

We thought if we came close to it

We would be able to catch its tail end; feel its power

Yet, somehow that was not enough to make us whole

It is somewhere outside of us, farther than the sky we hope to reach

As we cry about our losses and hope for a better tomorrow

Our emotions race, sometimes to the brink of insanity

Yet, somehow we know nothing else matters but this moment

It is somewhere in our spirit, deeper than the love we can’t seem to claim

We crave for the time when we can see the likes of tomorrow

That tomorrow that’s so far away, we didn’t know it existed

Yet, we wait for the inspiration that might come.

It’s here, stronger than all the lives we had before

Sweeter than all the dreams we thought would never come true,

Greater than all the past that has prepared us for tomorrow,

Deeper than all the thoughts that carry us through today.
